Stars of Romance : Curtin Prom Night 2009

Yesterday was the Stars of Romance, Curtin University Sarawak Campus’s Prom Night 2009. Organized by the student council of the year 2009.

There wasn’t much to talk about the programme actually, as this SNOOZING orchestra was performing from the beginning of the dinner till the late dinner.
It’s not us who almost fallen asleep but I guess, the performers were the one bearing the pain of loneliness on top of the stage.
This year’s programme run up was SUPERBLY dull, as I can remember the Emcee only came out thrice during the 2 hours dinner. (like K-Thks-Bai)

Lau Sheng with our first dish. The CHEAP vegetable salad with salad dressing. Sweatsss.

CHEAP pixxa hut-like mushroom soup..

CHEAP KayAfCi-like mashed potato..

Okay, this not bad la, COMPLIMENTARY roasted chicken.

COMPLIMENTARY branded ice-cream-in-a-cup (The Mat-Kool 25 ml Ice cream)
Hey, organizing chairperson, we’re paying Rm50 and we are expecting something better but not this kind of CHEAP food.
And mine you, your guest performers almost SNOOZED off.
Compare it with last year’s PROM NIGHT. Click here

For those who has never been in Sibu or is/are interested to have their maiden journey to Sibu. This is the blog that will provided you with tonnes some useful information of Sibu.
“Sibu is a town, and the capital of Sibu District (229.8 square kilometers) in Sibu Division, Sarawak, east Malaysia. It is located at the confluence of the Rajang and Igan Rivers, some 60 kilometers from the ocean. The population is dominated by Chinese especially the Fuzhou as well as indigenous Melanau, Malay, and Iban. The district population (per year 2008 census) is 255,000.”

Cuisine
Sibu is known for its delicious and affordable local cuisine. The more famous ones include:
- “Kam Buan” noodles (干盘面) – available at almost all coffee shops and food stalls. The best kampua can be found at Sarawak Laksa – Mouth-watering Sarawak laksa at Aloha
- “Diang Miang Ngu”(鼎边糊, similar to Taiwan’s 鼎边銼)- a savoury soup is available at many stalls as a late night supper. A popular joint is in an alleyway by Jalan Blacksmith.
- “Bien Niuk”(扁肉, also called wanton, 雲吞. It is known as 餛囤 on the Chinese mainland, while Taiwanese call it 炒手) – a meat dumpling soup.
- “Kom Biang” (光饼)- a Foochow delicacy made with flour, baked in an oven and eaten either with or without meat and a special gravy. It is somewhat similar to a bagel. However, it can be either in a crisp or soft version. Nice soft kompia dipped in pork sauce can be sought from Chung Hua road and the Sunday Market at Pedada road.
- “You Zhar Gui” (油炸桧, also called 油條 in Chinese) – deep fried twin dough batter often dipped in soup or chili sauce. It is also a great with porridge or “Bak Kut Teh”
- “Bek Ting Yuok” (八珍药 in Chinese): The soup of eight essences – nice, sweet, tasty and nutritious Chinese soup made of at least eight types of Chinese herbal materials.
(note: the names are rendered in the Fuzhou dialect, which is often radically different from Standard Mandarin.)

Curtin University Sarawak Open Day 2009
Before I proceed with the new post,
Please let me make it clear about April 1st’s post. Click here.
Its partially true partially not.
The part where I wrote “dedicated-ly” on the bad experiences that I had in some food outlet was true.
The busted myth was that they did not sue me.
There’s one guy that left a comment on my blog post. He insisted that I should complaint about the quality of the food that I had at pizzahut.
So I took his advise & I lodged a complaint via a feedback form that is everly available on www.pizzahut.com.my .
They (the Miri branch Pizzahut ) did ring & apologize for their mistakes & even offer me for a replacement meal F.O.C.
I told them I did not want a F.O.C. meal but what we – the customers wanted was the betterment & improvement of your food & services.
He said okay, sorry we’ll try our best to improve. Lets hope this really gonna happen.

Although it wasn’t true that I got sued by PizzaHut, I’m really glad that some of my friends…show some sincere cares. They came out with some touching SMSs. This is one of them. Thank you!

No, it was just an April Fool Joke.
I promise, won’t do that to you guys anymore.
Thanks haha.
I also owe some people my apology.
She shredded few drops of unnecessary tears when she read April’s 1st post & dashed to my room as immediate as she finished it. Ooops.. Not gonna tell who.. LoL
The last but not least,
My dad called me too.
“I heard you got sued? Why they sued you?” , asked Dad.
Haha.
Dad reads blog too?
Haha.
Thank you all for your concerns.
Really hope you guys were entertained by some jokes.
If I really got sued.
Please come & rescue me.
Alright so coming back to the topic.
